When you
look at today’s Fountain Valley real estate market, it is hard
to believe that at one time the area was known as Gospel Swamp.
Many of the beach cities of Orange County were located in
the delta area of the Santa Ana River, which created flooding
and swampy areas from Huntington Beach to Newport Beach.
Now, after a severe drought transformed the land and dams
control the river, Fountain Valley is a pleasant community made
up mainly of single-family homes and condominiums.

In the
1950s there was some interest in annexing the area to Garden
Grove or Santa Ana, but residents preferred to keep it a
separate community. Much
of the Fountain Valley real estate market surrounds a lovely,
urban park called Mile Square.
This park includes three golf courses, soccer and
baseball fields and two fishing lakes.
It is a great place to go boating and to take the family
out for a picnic.
